How to Build a Quad Monitor Display

If you’ve just added a couple dual monitor video cards to your PC and you already have a computer monitor, I suggest buying matching monitors. Four monitors of the same make and model would eliminate annoying differences in color, brightness, and balance. As a minimum, they should be of the same size and resolution. In order to give yourself the most flexibility in the connections, be sure to get monitors that have both the VGA and DVI capabilities. There are cables and dual monitor adapters that can work out most differences.

Organize Your Multiple Monitors Right the 1st time

A good quad monitor display needs to have a good stand. You can find models that will branch out horizontally to give a great panoramic view (ideal for game enthusiast). Most prefer the two over two cube arrangement with less need to turn the head to see various screens.

Go to Someone that Knows

The Multi Monitor Store -www.multi-monitors.com, has flexible quad monitor arrays that let you easily angle the monitors for better ergonomics. It’s important that the monitors match the mounting holes for the stand. VESA is the standard mount patterns used by most stand manufacturers, however it’s not always the case that all monitors are VESA compatible. Otherwise, be sure to confirm your monitors will mount properly before you buy them by confirming they’re VESA.

Assemble with care

Once you have your stand and monitors in place, simply screw the four bolts in the back of the monitor to the front of the stand. Be sure to tighten until firmly snug, and refrain from over tightening. Over tightening can cause stripping of the screw head. Adjust the monitors so that little space is in between and tighten.

Are your customers demanding more than you can keep up with? Are they demanding more for less? Of course they want world class products and services, we all do. If you can’t provide what they want, they will find someone else who can. Customer loyalty is a myth that was formed in the mist of our distant past. Operating on a single computer monitor can be a customer service handicap.

We must be closer to our customer than ever. We must provide great customer service.

Core system fundamentals of customer service have been packaged up and integrated into corporate America for over two hundred years. However the main principal is universal. Fill the Needs of the customer. If your customer service rep. has a multiple monitor display when addressing the customers need, he or she will be better enabled to provide those needs.

Definition of Customer Service:

According to the ACA Group, www.theacagroup.com, customer service is the ability of an organization to constantly and consistently give the customer what they want and need. The ACA Group is an alliance of highly trained and experienced consultants and instructors providing Consulting Services, Training & Education to a variety of manufacturing and service organizations, in both the public and private sectors ranging from five million dollars in annual sales to Fortune 500 companies. The ACA Group defines excellent customer service as the ability of an organization to constantly and consistently exceed the customer’s expectations.

Every desktop in your organization should be multi screen.

This definition goes beyond the traditional way we think about customer service. It covers areas that do not come in direct contact with the customer at all. Manufacturing, purchasing and quality control may never talk to the end user of our products, yet they are vital in meeting the customer’s needs. If we deliver an expensive product that doesn’t work and we deliver it late, that affects customer service just as much as a rude salesperson. The entire enterprise must pull together to provide excellent customer service

Replacing your aging fleet of soon-to-be-obsolete computers with a new multi monitor setup, may be just what you need to save money and make your business more efficient.

Microsoft Windows Vista has built in multiple monitor software.

One of the biggest advantages to having a multiple computer monitor system is the amount of time and effort saved when doing any type of multi-tasking, i.e. running multiple applications. Rather than minimizing and maximizing windows to switch between applications, simply turn your head from one monitor to the other.

For example, having a dual monitor wallpaper would increase your display real estate by 100%. Add an extra monitor by purchasing a dual monitor video card or dual monitor adapter and installing on your existing pc’s or purchase new multi monitor computers from www.multi-monitors.com, an industry leader in multiple diplays.

If a customer calls and your Rep is working on a triple monitor array, then he/she could have Internet Explorer running on the left monitor and Word running on the center monitor, and a order form on the right. If your customer has an unusual inquire, simply type a few notes in Word and then copy and paste to search relative information in the web, or within your own intranet.

Improving customer Service can start by improving the Customer Service Tools. We’ve probably had the the basic fundamentals down for some time. The only thing is technology is a constantly changing environment. If you don’t change with it, it will ultimately leave you behind.

Drive to Discover Report on ABC News

The new status symbol in Silicone Valley is multiple computer screens. Size doesn’t matter anymore, it’s how many you have. Richard Hart, a San Francisco, CA reporter for ABC News reports on a phenomena of three or even four monitors per person.

People in the financial industry have used more than one monitor for years, but lately it’s becoming common for the rest of us. Rhoda Alexander is one of a growing number of people who use more than one computer monitor at the same time.

She has a dual monitor setup attached to her multiple monitor laptop. From what I could see it looked like a dual monitor adapter was how she linked them together. Combined with her laptop, this gave her a great multiple monitor display in which she had grown accustomed to using.

Rhoda who is a monitor analyst for a suppy Co says, “It helps me tremendously, because typically in your average day, I may have 15 different files open at the same time.” She also goes on to say that there’s a certain amount of jealousy that come her way due to her multi screen luxuries. “I have office mates come by and say “wow i love your setup”..

Two developments are driving the boom in multiple monitors. The first is plug and play connectors that make it easy to daisy chain as much as an 8 monitor display at once. One company multi-monitors.com expects sales to triple in the next year, and that’s largely due to the rise of portable computing. In the coming year consumers will buy more notebooks than desktops for the first time.

Already over 35% of consumer buy and extra monitor at the same time they buy the notebook computer. People like the portability but not the small screen.

Although Rhoda says she can work on the road with the kind of work that she does, but there’s always that sigh of relief when she gets back to where she has a multi screen display to spread her work out on.

Why not use a single humongous monitor? Ergonomics. Experts say that it’s not a good idea to keep looking up and down and it’s easier on the eyes to have the screens folded in on you.

When asked, Rhoda said she could use a few more monitors.

Typical obstacles preventing efficient productivity,

can generally be narrowed down to a handful of common beliefs says Sally McGhee, a recognized thought leader and innovator in the field of productivity management. She has trained thousands of people in the corporate environment, and has more than 25 years’ experience as a consultant and an executive coach, and also is the founder and CEO of McGhee Productivity Solutions.

She says common beliefs such as, but not limited to, Too Much Information coming in at once, Cluttered up Records, Time Management, and Organization to name a few. However one thing we, -those of us who’ve already experienced true multiple monitor computing, have found is that all the above can be greatly reduced by utilizing multiple monitor video cards.

Many of us can agree that at times, email is overwhelming.

Sometimes it’s hard to keep up when reign of spam begins to overtake the inbox. But in reality, it’s not the volume of e-mail that’s a issue. How you process and organize the volume is the issue.

Outlook split view

This issue can be greatly reduced

with the use of dual monitors, or dual monitor display. When each year more data is coming at by way of e-mails, it can be easy to let the e-mails drive you. With a multi screen display you can see the emails coming in while writing back and/or researching other data.

We have to keep everything. You just never know when you might need it!

Well believe it or not, on average, studies show that most of us can throw away up to 50% of our stored information, with no ramifications. So far so good anyway. As for those of you who are “keepers,” we know the value of real estate, and at some point the decision is made to hang on to everything so that it can be made useful again in the future. Either way you choose, a 3 monitor display is ideal for shuffling around many groups of information.

The key is Time Management!

“I just don’t have enough time to do all the things I want.” If you’ve heard that before, it’s probably because you’ve said it. Fortunately, technology is helping to make life more convenient. If your to-do lists keeps you in multiple locations on the web-you might want to consider a multi monitor display. This will make it much easier to centralize and prioritize your things to-do. Outlook in a multiple monitor display is highly recommended. For those of you who don’t already have it, get you a dual monitor video card and open up your horizons..

Get better results faster with your PowerPoint Presentation.

Whether you use a dual monitor video card or a dual monitor adapter, your going to benefit by upgrading your system to support a dual monitor display at the least.

Make PowerPoint Presentations easier with dual monitors by enabling the Presenter View.

Enabling the Presenter View allows you to view notes and other information to help you while you’re giving the presentation. The audience sees the slide show while you view notes and upcoming slides.

Add a couple inexpensive add-ons to PowerPoint, and get even more use out of PowerPoint and Multiple Displays. Check out programs like PowerViewer and Sunday Star to display multiple PowerPoint presentations at once. Turn powerPoint into a program for displaying your multiple monitor display wall. Mirror Mode gives the option to show the same presentation on two or more monitors. Using a technique such as Mirroring would be ideal in large rooms where it might not be easy for all viewers to see a single display.

Before you can turn on the dual monitor setup (sometimes called multiple monitor support), you must have the proper hardware installed according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Dual monitor support is available for desktop computers running Microsoft Windows 2000 with Service Pack 3 or later, and laptop computers running Microsoft Windows XP.

  1. If Control Panel is not already visible, click the Start menu, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click the Display icon.
  2. On the Settings tab, select the monitor icon for the presenter’s monitor (usually 1), and then select the Use this device as the primary monitor check box.If this check box is selected and unavailable, the monitor is already designated as the primary monitor. Only one monitor can be selected as the primary monitor at a time. When you select a different monitor icon and complete step 2, this setting for the previous monitor is automatically cleared and becomes accessible again.
  3. Select the secondary monitor icon, and then select the Extend my Windows Desktop onto this monitor check box.

Notes

  • You can only show the presenter view on one monitor and run the slide show from the other monitor.
  • Your computer may have the capability to support multiple monitors, but PowerPoint supports the use of two for a slide show.
  • You can turn off dual monitor support by selecting the second monitor and then clearing the Extend my Windows Desktop onto this monitor check box.

Vista Works Like A Charm With Multiple Screens

Multi monitor Concepts

The basic concepts related to the various types of multiple-adapter configurations are not new or specific to Windows Vista, but are important to understand in relation to the design of the multi-adapter feature in Windows Vista.

Get a different feel using a Multiple Monitor display on Vista than with it’s predecessor Windows XP.

Although the functionality is the same for the most part, you’ll notice something is slightly different.

For example, when using the XP operating system, it was rather easy to install different dual monitor video cards from different manufacturers on the same multiple monitor system. This was typically done by installing a high-end graphics card from one company, placing it in the primary PCI Express slot, and also having a lower-end standard PCI video card (possibly from a different manufacturer) powering peripheral displays. Even Though these two cards which can be completely different using two different “display drivers” (the software that tells Windows how to use the graphics card,) this configuration could still work in the Windows XP operating system.

Microsoft has been known however, for claims that having multiple monitor VGA drivers in Windows XP often causes stability crisis.

So in an attempt to resolve this issue, Windows Vista requires that all installed graphics cards use the same display drivers in order to perform efficiently and stable. The drawback to such events, is that all graphics cards installed on a dual monitor setup or higher should be from the same manufacturer, and not from different companies. For example, no mix matching Nvidia dual monitor video cards with ATI cards.

If for some reason you would want to continue using outdated hardware but wanted to upgrade to Vista (if that’s possible)

you can use a legacy XP driver (XPDM driver) with your existing graphics hardware. However you must be forewarned that some options in the Vista such as, but not limited to, advanced 3D rendering options to your computer monitors. You can also use a dual monitor adapter to.

One of the favorite improvements in Windows Vista using multiple monitors,

and that is the remote desktop client now has multi screen capability. Let’s say your at the home office and you need a screen shot from your PC at the other office. With Windows Vista, you have the power to remotely access your PC from another using the Remote Desktop feature. Your entire desktop can be displayed instead of just the main monitor, even if the viewer only has one monitor.

Using Microsoft Excel Is Easier With Dual Screens

Frequently I use Microsoft Excel to render records of various projects. Having a multiple monitor computer definitely helps. Often times I’ll compare two Excel spreadsheets side by side so that I can stay on top of things row to row. Using dual computer monitors, I’ll put a spreadsheet on each computer monitor.

At first, I couldn’t get the spreadsheets to display seperately, on serperate screens, eventhough they appeared as seperate windows in my taskbar. It took me a little while but after a few minutes, I found how to command Excel to open each document as a seperate window or instance of the Excel application.

There are several different ways you can view Excel in a multi-screen format. You can start by having the Excel program open on one display, and the documents you are comparing on another display.

Maximize Excel to spread across multiple monitors. This application would work well if you had a very large spreadsheet that is hard to view on a single monitor. Stretching the spreadsheet across dual screen monitors will help you see the whole spreadsheet without having to toggle back and forth.

Excel using dual screens

Automatically position and maximize each speadsheet in its own display.

If you have two documents open simultaneously on Excel, click the “Window” button and the “Compare Side By Side” should automatically appear. This will automatically position each spreadsheet in its own display. This particular trick only works for two documents though.

Excel in dual monitors

Now for the real glory booster,

all you need to do is open each Excel document in it’s own window seperately. This way you can utilize your multi monitor setup to it’s fullest capabilities. To do this simply hold the “Shift” button down when you click on the Excel Shortcut and it will open independently of any other Excel windows previously opened.

With multiple monitor computing growing increasingly more popular, the need for multi monitor software is decreasing. This makes it so much easier for the average Joe to go get a dual monitor video card or simply a dual monitor adapter and start increasing their over all worth instantly.
